Targeted at consultant-level physicians in critical care streams, The TRAPS Course is a two- day high-fidelity training course where you obtain mastery of practical skills – through the use of anaesthetised animal models and human cadavers.

Learn the theory and master life saving surgical skills, under the guidance of an expert group of critical care physicians and trauma surgeons.

The TRAPS lecture series is a one-day intensive lecture course focussing on hot topics in current trauma care. Delivered by an expert group of instructors, this course provides up-to-date pearls in trauma education – focussing of navigating common pitfalls – and is open to those in the health care sector with an interest in trauma management. The TRAPS lecture series is a prerequisite for enrolment in the two-day practical TRAPS course.

Trauma TRAPS (Trauma Resuscitation And Procedural Skills) is an innovative collection of courses which aims to provide a resource rich environment for current trauma care expertise and management. By way of a unique combination of practical and didactic education modalities delivered by experts in the field, Trauma TRAPS delivers a comprehensive network of trauma expertise to your fingertips. This is an inclusive resource for all those with an interest in improving their management of severe trauma The team behind Trauma TRAPS is heavily involved in the development of an online trauma repository to provide ongoing resources, access to expert faculty, and networking opportunities for participants. In addition to attendance at our courses, participants will be encouraged to actively contribute to this into the future.

Who’s the team behind Trauma TRAPS?

The brainchild of likeminded critical care physicians, trauma surgeons, retrieval physicians and military physicians, Trauma TRAPS evolved from the mutual recognition of the need to empower, educate and upskill critical care staff towards better patient outcomes in trauma. The founders and course directors of Trauma TRAPS – Dr Trent Lipp, Dr Anthony Holley and Dr Brydie Edwards – are critical care physicians with expertise in medical education and management of severe trauma in hospital, pre-hospital and military settings. Trauma TRAPS faculty are all experts in their field and have come together as a team to provide educational courses that aim to impart competence and confidence amongst participants when responding to trauma emergencies. With a long history working in hospital emergency, the team at Trauma Traps recognised that repetition of experience was essential to ensure competence when responding to these types of emergencies.

How much will the respective course cost?

The total cost for the 2-day practical TRAPS course is $3250.00, and this includes your compulsory enrolment in the TRAPS Lecture Series. The total cost for the TRAPS Lecture Series is $150.00 All course enrolments include 1 years free access (from the date of course completion) to our ever growing online network of videos, lectures and tips. This is valued at $50.00. All costs are exclusive of GST.

What are the previous levels of qualification that I require to do this course?

The 2-day practical TRAPS course is designed for consultant-level physicians in critical care streams and recognises the following fellowships: ACEM / CICM / ANZCA / ACRRM / PEM. The 1-day Trauma TRAPS lecture series is open to all in the health care sector with an interest in trauma management – including consultants and fellows, nurses, allied health staff, doctors in training, military medics, pre-hospital clinicians and paramedics, medical and nursing students.

When are the next course dates, and how do I enrol?

Our next TRAPS Course will be held on the 31st of August to the 1st of September, with 2 further courses to follow through the year; one more in each of October and November. Included in your enrolment, will be videos of the inaugural TRAPS Lecture Series held in May of 2019. We are currently taking expressions of interest for all-out TRAPS Courses in 2022. There will be more courses announced on our Website shortly, so please be sure to visit us regularly.
